I’ve settled into a routine on this blog. Wednesday is my weekly post. Thursday is for Linux / open-source related topics — I skipped this Thursday — and Friday is for English-language writings.
For old times sake!
There was a time when this was an English-speaking blog, exclusively in English. People kept urging me to write in Arabic — after all, I am an Arab living in an Arabic-speaking country. But back then, I was convinced that English writing would pay off, simply because English-speaking people tend to read more than Arabic-speaking people.
The wind of change
Fast forward to today, December 2025. I could go for months without typing a word in English, despite keeping a daily journal in that language — a little something I do to keep myself accountable and that is not meant to be shared with readers.
But I digress, as this isn’t the topic of today’s post.

Crippling uncertainty
This is a moment for me to reflect and ponder, as this year is nearing its end. Less than one month separates us from 2026 — a new year. Would this be any different, or would it be just a change of the number on the calendar? Only time will tell.
I face this new year with uncertainty, as I am yet to secure a permanent job, and with a turbulent economy, it’s difficult not to feel worried for the future that lies ahead. This time, it isn’t just me. There are three of us — and a loud ginger cat that meows for food constantly!
I do remain hopeful that better things await, as this is my faith in Allah.
Final words
Sometimes I wonder if any of my old readers stuck around. If they still read what I write. If you’re still tagging along for the ride, please let me know. Drop a comment below and show me that you’re still around.
