Knightmare remake download for PC

Knightmare is a game made by Konami in 1985 for the MSX computer system that reached legendary status and has a cult following. In the year of 2015 a remake was made after two years of hard work.

It follows a cliche of a princess kidnapped by 8 demons and a hero must rescue her in a top down shooter style. You collect power ups and have a choice of several weapons to choose from in order to beat the 8 levels of the game.

Cheats for Knightmare remake

From the main menu of the game, if you write DEMON, you will start with 9 lives

Also, from the main menu, if you write STAGEX (where X is the number of the stage) you will start from this stage (remember there are 8 stages)

Important notice about the cheats

Sadly the level select doesn’t work on the standard version of the game, only the golden version so I uploaded it and it’s available for download. It was discontinued by the developers because it’s sold in a physical disk format in a very limited form. It’s worth mentioning that the package contains some original artwork as well.
However it was available for free before that and versions can be found online if you know what you are looking for. I’ve uploaded a version here.

Even tho the gameplay is similar it has some minor differences, you get a choice of 4 characters to play with including a penguin (I wonder why?).

يوم للذكرى

منذ تسعة عشر عامًا وفي مثل هذا اليوم، اشترى والدي لنا جهاز Sega Mega Drive 2. الفرحة لم تسعنا ولم نسعها! أخيرًا تحصلنا على جهاز ألعاب برسوميات واضحة وأصوات صافية – لم نحب جهاز “الفاميلي” على الاطلاق-

رقم سبعة المحظوظ!

الساعة السابعة مساء كانت أسعد ساعات اليوم، هي الساعة التي نفتح فيها جهاز Sega إن كنا تصرفنا بشكل جيد وحفظنا الثمن من القرآن. نتخاصم حول من يلعب أولا، من يوصل الجهاز ومن يفكه ويعيده لعلبته. ثم اتفقنا أنه أحدنا يوصل ال Sega واﻷخر يفك التوصيل ويعيد ال Sega للعلبة.

أحب الرقم 7 لأنه في ذاكرتي يرتبط ب Sega. وقت اللعب وشهر الشراء.

Sega عبر الزمن

مرت السنوات وجهاز Sega موجود هناك في الخلفية. صارت احدى تقاليد العيد اللعب بال Sega بعد الصلاة والمعايدة. أو أن تكون هدية النجاح أو ذكرى الميلاد شريطًا من اﻷشرطة.

أصدقائي من خلال Sega

صنعنا صداقات كثيرة من خلال Sega. أتذكر أنني كنت أسأل اﻷولاد في المدرسة إن كان لديهم Sega ونمضي فترة الاستراحة نتحدث عن الألعاب ونخطط لمقايضتها. لاحقا عندما أراد الكل شراء Playstation باعوا أشرطتهم لي!

قد يكون الوقت مناسبا للاعتراف أن ما كنت أكرهه بشأن الكشافة أنني أبتعد عن البيت ولا أستطيع اللعب بال Sega كما كنت أريد!

حتى اﻵن لازلت ألعب من حين لأخر بألعاب Sega. لا يصدق أصدقائي القدامى هذا حتى بعد زواجهم وإنجابهم للأطفال أنني لا أزال ألعب بألعاب Sega القديمة. عزيزي بعض العادات تموت بصعوبة.. محاكي Sega على الكمبيوتر يشفي غليلي من حين لأخر حيث أنني لا أملك تلفزيونا. 

كنت أخشى أن يفسد الجهاز أو أن يسرقه أحد منا. لهذه الدرجة كنت أحب ال Sega خاصتي. لو ضرب المنطقة زلزال لكان أول شيء أحمله وأنا أركض هو جهاز Sega الحبيب!

علامة فارقة في مسار حياتي

هذا الجهاز بالنسبة لي أكثر من مجرد نظام ألعاب. السبب الحقيقي لحبي للكمبيوترات ودراستي للبرمجة هو نظام Sega Mega Drive 2. إلى يومنا هذا يزين جهازي ستيكر شعارSega كنوع من التحية والاحترام لهذا الصديق القديم. لا أدري هل كنت لأكون من أنا عليه اليوم لو لم ألعب بألعاب Sega؟

هذه الكراسة كانت تحتوي على أسماء الألعاب التي نمتلكها، وتاريخ الشراء، والسعر، وتاريخ الإنتهاء من اللعبة. كذلك تجميع كلمات السر والخدع التي إما اكتشفناها بالصدفة أو من خلال الانترنت (لاحقًا).

خاتمة

لم تكن ألعاب Sega هي اﻷفضل ولا اﻷحدث. في الواقع اشترينا الجهاز بعد سنوات من انتهاء تصنيعه. لكنها بالنسبة لنا كانت مصدرًا للسعادة وينبوعًا للبهجة. ومنجما للذكريات لا ينضب.

My second wind gaming

For many years I’ve hit a wall with games, I thought I’d never be able to enjoy video games again. I’ve even took to Reddit to complain that buying a gaming keyboard and mouse didn’t enhance my gaming experience.  Here is a classical example of me ranting not being able to play as much games as I want to.
But alas! I’ve found my second wind and I’m back to enjoying video games regularly!

Gaming on Linux

Gaming on Linux is a clunky experience to say the least. It feels off, like it’s not supposed to happen. The games are odd and some are unplayable. For the longest time using Linux only meant dropping my entire game library (except for those who were cross-platform).

Having a dual boot or a second device just for gaming was out of the question, and a virtual machine is simply an overkill.

An obvious solution

Wine! It can help run many games and programs on Linux. It expanded my options and brought back games that I thought I’ve abandoned forever.

Other supporting tools

For much older games Dosbox is the way to go, DOS games run on modern software using it. So the pre Windows 7 games are still playable thanks to this tool.

Gnash for flash games, in the late 90s and early 2000s the flash game market was booming with all sorts of mini games and jokes, if you want to relive the moments from that time era you have to have Gnash installed, as Firefox doesn’t run flash games anymore.

Something is still missing

Despite all these modifications and tweaks, it still feels like an archipelago of scattered games with no theme or purpose to them. There is one missing piece of the puzzle.

Lutris the crown jewel

Yes, a great deal of me re-embracing games is having Lutris in my repertoire of tools. There are many reasons for that

1. Lutris collects games across systems in one place, making them easier to find and see.
2. Lutris calculates the time played on each game.
3. Sets the resolution automatically and then sets it back to the system’s resolution after I’m done playing games.
4. If a joystick is connected to the computer, it is automatically recognized thanks to some tools Lutris has (depends on the game itself).
5. Lutris helps install some games from its library.
6. Lutris has useful wine settings embedded in the program itself that help diagnose the game issues.

Now that I’ve listed the software, lets dig in into the actual experience

1. Turn the phone silent, block all social media. If it doesn’t work then airplane mode is the way to go.
2. Use a headset and joystick for maximum gaming effect. A lot of games actually recommend using the Joystick for a better experience, Mario 2012 is an example.

3. Sit comfortably, if you can get a beanbag that would probably be awesome! (I don’t have one yet).

4. Keep it fresh and exciting, I’ve reviewed a bunch of awesome games on this blog, and there are hundreds more that can be downloaded for free.

5. Have fun, don’t over think stuff, don’t force it either. Things are best when they occur naturally.

With these tweaks and tools, the gaming experience on Linux isn’t only possible, but actually rather enjoyable. There are plenty of titles to choose from and good times to spend with games.
